Nanhai Rescue Bureau, a public welfare institution under the direct control of the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, is dedicated to promoting a high-quality development of itself. As the only national professional maritime rescue team in the South China Sea area, it is responsible for rescuing lives, environment and property at sea, as well as special rescue and relief tasks designated by the state, including political, military and disaster relief. It is also to undertake the state-designated tasks of deep-sea emergency rescue, ensure the safety of the transport of strategic sea lanes and strategic goods, and fulfill international obligations such as those contained in relevant international conventions and bilateral maritime transport agreements.

As a loyal practitioner of the moral and political engineering of the party and the government at sea, Nanhai Rescue Bureau adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and under the loving care of the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China and the correct leadership of the rescue bureau, it always adheres to the people-centered principle, the new concept of development, and a high-quality development, striving hard and forging ahead, and always condenses in practice the idea of “Respecting life and winning honors at the blue sea”, which has become an inexhaustible momentum for  the selfishless spirit of the Nanhai Rescue people to set the national and people's interest above anything else, and guided their performance of manning the front line of rescue day after night as well as bravely holding fast upon waves and tides for the safe cruises upon the South China Sea, and for the protection of life and property.
